Welcome to
Iniabi Farm!

We practice
natural farming.

Our produce is grown without pesticides or fertilizers, even organic ones.
Everything is grown from the field’s own ecosystem, without any external additives.
We welcome visitors for farm stays and day trips,
with the goals of encouraging natural farming and
sharing how one can live in harmony with nature.

Our farm’s
three goals

What does “Iniabi” mean?
Iniabi means “the sun on which all life depends” in the language of the Osage tribe in the United States.
It’s also a reference to the farm owner, Yohka,
whose name reads “sun” and “possibility” in Japanese characters.

  • 1

Grow produce that anyone can eat with peace of mind.

    Point 1

We strive to grow natural produce that anyone — infants, pregnant mothers, children, people sensitive to chemical substances — can happily crave and eat.

  • 2

Don’t burden children or the environment.

    Point 2

Clean water shouldn’t have become dirty after leaving our farm. To prevent water pollution, we don’t use pesticides or fertilizers, instead simply cultivating our produce with the help of local critters and fungi.

  • 3

Everyone can feel the joy of eating home-grown produce.

    Point 3

In some countries, people have lost their farmland. However, abandoned farmland can be found all over Japan. That soil, free of fertilizers and pesticides, is suitable for natural farming.

from past visitors

  • was amazed by the fertilizer-free farming methods!

This was my first experience with natural farming. I was impressed that vegetables can be grown without using any chemical or organic fertilizers! I thought, “I want to try that myself!”

  • I was able to learn the good points of life in the countryside!

Staying on the farm made me think I want to try living in the countryside too. I was able to learn about natural farming, and I was touched by the friendly smiles of the locals. I laughed, learned, and was inspired the most out of my three-month visit to Japan.

  • I learned a lot about Japanese culture, Japanese language, and natural farming during my stay!

It was great hearing from experts on Japan and natural farming. They kindly explained their farming process and work in detail to me. It was very interesting to hear about why they believe natural farming is important and why they don’t use fertilizers or pesticides.

Meet the farmers!

Nao Fukuoka
ふくおか なお

I enjoy food and travel. I can play violin and ukelele a little. Out of the two of us on the farm, I do most of the talking, although I look forward to hearing from everyone more than hearing my own voice. I’m looking forward to taking Chachamaru, our dog, on walks while we chat.

Yohka Tanaka
たなか ようか

I enjoy learning new recipes and watching movies. My favorite manga is One Piece. At the farm, I take care of the fields. I’m a bit shy, so you might not see me as much as Nao, but I’m really happy to have you visit our farm. Please ask me anything about produce and soil.

Chachamaru

I’m a good boy who loves people. It would be great if we could take a walk together!
